Into White
Product Highlights
“Be careful with the power that you wield. Things once done cannot always be undone.”
Gregory Eldridge Orr
It’s the mid-twentieth century, heralding the rapid advancement of technology, and the frontiers of artificial intelligence and time travel are about to be breached. The consequences of these advancements, and the inevitable fallout of humanity’s relentless quest for knowledge, reveal an irreversible chain of events with both revelatory and tragic outcomes. The story begins and spirals around the life of Gregory Eldridge Orr Jr., who was prematurely born and doomed to die as an infant in 1955. However, after a visit from a violet-eyed stranger to the hospital’s nursery, Gregory’s death is prevented, and the timeline of humanity is irrevocably altered.
INTO WHITE is a story about the challenges of scientific exploration encompassing the micro-world of nanotechnology, which ultimately bursts forth to the ends of time and space. The juxtaposition of the infinitesimally small and the incomprehensibly large vie for dominance in this struggle of paradoxes.
In the end the gulf separating the creativity of the human mind and the logic and austerity of Artificial Intelligence does not seem so inseparably vast. While deeply profound, the consequences of these scientific developments reveal answers that humanity was perhaps never meant to know. Despite the math and technological developments—founded, presumably, on logic—questions arise with both an existential and quietly catastrophic urgency. What cause or force will end all things if we imagine time as a linear construct. And more importantly, where did this spiral begin and when will it all finish. When the end arrives to claim us, as it inevitably will, the question remains: Are we indeed the victims of our own devices?
